GAS AT BIRKENHEAD.
COMPLAINTS TO COUNCIL. CO-OPERATION WiTH NORTHCOTE. -/> ;■ ) ■ ■ --- Several matters connected with the gas service engaged the attention of the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening. The Birkenhead and Northcote Gas Company informed the council that the support so far guaranteed did not warrant extension of the gas main to Verran's .Corner, where the Birkdale Fruitgrowers' Association had suggested the erection of a lamp. -Complaints of the condition of the gas supplied to Birkenhead consumers were received, the council being asked to take action to ensure a remedy. , "The Northcote Council sought co-opera-tion in taking steps to bring about a more , satisfactory state .of affairs. regarding. the gas supply in the two boroughs. The Mayor, Mr. E. C. Walton, said the residents bf Northcote had taken action, and satisfactory assurances had been given to the deputation by the chairman 'of directors of the Birkenhead and Northcote Gas Company. , It was agreed to act in co-operation with the Northcote Council.
