TRIAL MATCHES .ARRANGED.

COMPREHENSIVE SERIES.

The New Zealand Rugby Union submitted to the Auckland Rugby Union last overling proposals for the secies of trial matches to be played prior to the selection of the New Zealand team for England, as follows: — May 10.—Auckland, North Auckland, Tham.es Valley, Waikato v. Hawke's Bay, Bay of Plenty, East Coast, Poverty Bay, at Auckland. Two emergencies are to be allowed for each team. May 17.—Wellington, Wairarapa, Horowhenua and Bush Unions v. Tajranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, King Country, at Wanganui. Two emergencies to be allowed for each team. May 21.—Possibles v. Probables (North Island), selected from previously-men-tioned! teams, at Wellington. May —Canterbury, Otago, Southland v. South Canterbury, West Coast. Buller, Nelson, Golden Bay and Marlborough, at Christchurch. May 28.—Possibles v. Probables (South Island), selected from."previouslymentioned teams. May 31.—North Island v. South Island, at Wellington. June 3.—Possibles v. Probables, at' Wellington. Each group of unions is to appoint three selectors to select the teams for each group. Nominations for selectors are to be sent in not later than April 3. From the selectors acting in the first matches the executive will,, appoint a selector for each island who . with the sole New Zealand selector will select the North and South Island teams. Thei players selected for the trial matches are to be only those available for final selection for the trip to England.
