CORMAOK. f§gj ■ ; The tele Mrs. Alice Mary Cfennack,.^ 1 formerly postmistress at Epsom, who passed . away during the rreek, was tho widow of the, . late Mr. George/ Avery Cormack, at one time deputy chief of the '- . i Electoral Office of "the Dominion. SoHtt . years ago the late Mrs. Cormack was. postmistress at Maungaturoto and during her tenure of that office an attempt; was ;---',: made to break into the post office. "Mr#. . Cormack jumped from the window, taking the key of the safe with her . and although r'-. the burglar was frightened away she sua- v tair.ad such injuries that it; became necessary to amputate one of her legs. Mrs. H!§> Cormack was for some time • postmistress at Epsom and gained the respect of the residents for her : courtesy and the conduct of the post office. She suffered '• a severe heart, .attack and . death occurred within five minutes. The remains were * ri 1 cremated at Waikmnete. 1 The 1 deceased is survived by Ms. E. B. Jones sou of a former marriage; Mr. D. B. Cormack,,' - of California; Mr. G. W. Cormack,' of Epsom; Sirs. P.
