NEW FOOTBALL GROUND.

association scheme. BLANDFOPvD PARK AREA. The proposed new football ground, Blandford Park, at the foot ,of Grafton Road, was considered by the management committee of the Auckland Football Association last evening. . A full muster of members was present, but ihe attendance of delegates from clubs was disappointing, only Harbour Board, Y.M.C.A.., Watersiders and Thistle representatives : being present.

The chairman, Mr. A. Menzies,. said the response to the issue of debentures was not at all encouraging to the committee entrusted with the carrying out of the scheme. Only 1964 £1 debentures had been applied for. The total amount applied for by clubs and individual players was only £700, the balants being subscribed by people outside of football circles. The hon. solicitor to the association had written advising against the commencement of the work unless the amount necessary for completion was signed for. The most acceptable tender was that of £3584, which would provide the playing pitch, terraces, grandstand and dressing rooms. An alternative tender wits' broyght forward of £2321, which provided for playing pitch and terraces. During a discussion Mr. Blandford offered to advance £500, in order that the work might be proceeded with. It was thereupon unanimously resolved that the tender of £2321 be accepted and a recommendation mnda to the committee to put the work in hand. One member suggested a. levy be made •on all clubs, while another thought that owing, to the poor support shown by the players, a levy should be made on each player through the clubs. It was, however, resolved that a further appeal be made to-clubs at their annual meetings. j On the motion of Mr. A. Menzies. a hearty vote of . thanks to Mr, BJandfqrd for the generous manner in which lie had met. the committee, was carried.
