A Nationalist Party has been formed in the Legislative Assembly with a membership of 72, in a House of 143, including 26 official members. The party intends to use its majority to adopt a resolution tomorrow asking for a round : table conference to draft a scheme of full responsible Government for India. Failing the Gov- ! ernment's response, the -Party intends to .refuse supplies next month on the occasion of the Budget discussion. The Assembly adopted by 77 votes to 39, against the Government's opposition, a non-official resolution urging the imposition of a counter-veiling duty on South African coal to the extent of the bounty allowed by the Union Government: Sir Charles Innes. member of the Chamber of Commerce, declared that the existing conditions were favourable if the coal industry would utilise them. There was no need for special protection.
