SUICIDE OF FARMER.
»» —: DISCOVERY BY WIFE. TRAGEDY AT PAPAKURA. A farmer, at Papakura, ;'. named Walter Jenkins, was found hanged in his washhouse shortly , after 8 a.m. yesterday. The discovery was made by Mr. • Jenkins' wife, on her return, after spending two days at Pukekohe. Constable Holland and Dr. Mcßae were immediately, summoned, but the latter could only pronounce life extinct, death having occurred about five hours earlier. Underneath the beam from which the body was suspended a ■ hole about four feet deep had been dug, evidently to ensure a drop. Jenkins leaves a widow and adult family. No reason is assigned for the act. Deceased, so far.as is known, had no financial or domestic troubles. An inquest was opened yesterday, before the district coroner, Mr. J. Webster, of Pukekohe. After evidence of identification had been taken the proceedings were adjourned sine die.
