. « . c PASSING OF OLD COLONISTS. J C PIONEER IN THE WAIKATO. A Waikato pioneer, Mrs. Elizabeth At- I kinson, died on Tuesday at her resi- » dence, Monavale, Pukerimu. Mrs. Atkin- l Eon, -who had reached the advanced age of 86 years, was born in Yorkshire and c camo to New Zealand with her husband, \ the late Mr. William Atkinson, in 1870. ' ; They immediately proceeded to Pukerimu c and took up a section at what is now known as Monavale, where the deceased I resided until her death. Mr. and Mrs. c Atkinson had some exciting experiences * during the Maori war in the Waikato. I Deceased's husband predeceased her 18 years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Atkinson, of Pukerimu, t and three sons, Messrs. G. H. Atkinson, '} of Pukerimu, Robert Atkinson, of Puke- * kura, and Adjutant Atkinson, of the Sal- _ vation Army, Palmerston North. Mrs. J. Collicoat, died recently at Mount Eden, at the age of 82 . years. * She arrived in Auckland as a child, her - parents being Mr. and Mrs. David Holds- j worth, formerly of Manchester. : ■■; Mr. I Holdsworth owned a store in High Street, J Auckland, in the early days of the city's • history, and later had a business in One- - hunga, > finally , retiring to Willow •■; Farm, J Otahuhu. Deceased, who resided in 'the t Auckland district for"76years, and for' t some time past at the Great North Road, i Grey Lynn, first married the late Mr. r William Fry. Her second husband, Mr. a J. Collicoat, survives her, together with the following sons and daughters:—Mr. G. Fry, Ponsonby; Mrs. McKinley, Mr. t J. Collicoat, Putaruru; Mrs. W.Atten- £ borough. Grey Lynn; and Mrs. Neil t Kyle, Epsom. A memorial service will t be held at the Methodist Church, \ Grey ( Lynn, to-morrow evening, v " e The death is announced of Mrs. Char- ( lotte Amy Stehr, at the residence of her :"s son-in-law, Mr. C. H. Mansill, Crescent } Road, One Tree Hill. Mrs. Stehr, who was born in Northampton in 1842, came to New Zealand in the ship William Miles in 1862 with her father and two brothers. She was married to Mr. H. E. Stahr in : old St. Paul's Church, in 1864, and the greater part of her life was spent in the :; Northern Wairoa district. Her husband ■ predeceased her 16 years ago. Deceased ;>; is survived by three sons and three . daughters. There are also twenty grandchildren and nine ' great-grandchildren. ? ".■'■ v . .'■ I MR. ND3L.WALKER.
