A. and N.Z. ( LONDON. Jan. 6. Wheat cargoes are firm, quotations being from 3d to Gd higher. There is fair inquiry, and parcels are in better request.

S. CANTERBURY LAMB SALE. [BY TELECEAPH.PEESS ASSOCIATION.] TDIAETJ. Monday. The South Canterbury fat lamb soaeon opened at Pleasant Point to-day. There was an entry of nearly 12,000, owing to the long dry spoil. The drafting was of a very high quality, ranging from inferior to very good. Tho freezing works being largely stocked _ affected buyers to some extent, the sale being erratic. The top price, realised was just over 355, tho average price being lOd per lb for first quality, and 9d to 9Jd for seconds.

The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cablegram from it-s London office, dated January 4. advising the Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follow:—New Zealand wethers Mid maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, not quoted: other brands, 56 and under BJd per lb. 57-61 8d per lb, 65-72 7{d per lb. New Zealand ewes: 64 and under, 6!d. New Zealand lamb: Canterbury quality, £6 and under Hid per lb: 37-42 lOid per lb, 43-fiO 9)d per lb, seconds lOd per lb; selected brands. 36 and under 101 d per lb, 37-42 Old per lb: other brands, first quality, 42 and under 9fd per lb, seconds 9sd per lb. NTew Zealand beef: Ox fores 3id per lb. hinds 7d per lb cow fores 2jd. hind« 3?d. Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores 35d. hinds sld. Argentine frozen beef: Ox fores 3?d, hinds i\<\. The lamb market is quiet and steady: trade 6tow. Mutton:" There is a firmer tendency owing to shortage of supply. The beef market is depressed owing to heavy arrivals from Argentine.
