CONTROL OF SWIMMING.
WELLINGTON'S ATTITUDE. [BY TELEGKAPH.—OWN COJtnESPONTCJNT.] WELLINGTON. Monday. A proposal by the 'Auckland swimming centre to break away from the present controlling body, in Christchurch, of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, and to form a North Island Association,, met with very little support at'the hands of the Wellington centre this livening. The proposal to form a North' Island Swimming Association was the subject of a lengthy circular from the Audi* land centre.
A motion that- the circular be received was submitted. Mr. ]?. Coira moved an amendment to the 'effect that the Wellington centre, while agreeing to a small extent with th« Auckland centre in regard to the inactivity of the council on one or.two matters, could not for the present see its way. clear to co-operate in the formation of a North Island Association, but suggested 'to the Auckland centre that t!ha matter be brought up at the annual conference with a view to a full discussion. The amendment was agreed to on the voices.
