NATIVE LAND COURT CLAIM.

A case involving a claim to the ownership of Rangiahuia Island, near the Great Barrier, was opened yesterday . before Judge Holland, at the Native Lands Court, Customs Buildings. Mr. Quartley appeared for the plaintiff, Nupere Waka, and Mr., Blomfiela" watched the interests, of other Maoris. It is claimed that the island was never purchased by the - Government, though for some years vit ha% been leased from the Crown. It comprises 137 acres of flat land that should be worth at least £10 an aore. A number of interesting old documents are being-investigated by the Court in connection with the case. ,'
