LANDSLIDE IN CANAL.
SHIPS DELAYED AT PANAMA. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Ruapehu, which arrived at Auckland from Southampton yesterday, was delayed in the Panama Canal for a few hours by a heavy landslide, which had occurred about four days before. The slip took place in one of the narrowest t cuts in tho canal, and it is estimated that about 4,000.000 tons of earth will , have to be removed to clear, the fairway. The canal: was partially blocked, and vessels' had to.' be navigated with caution through that particular cut.
