Perry was pleading in the Supreme Court to-day that a -weekly ■wage of £4 lis was inadequate for a young man with a wife and child, the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, remarked that there were thousands of men in the country who were similarly placed, but who managed to live without finding their way to the Court on a criminal charge.
