THE WOMEN OF GREECE.

Though the women of Greece have not yet obtained full political rights, the question is much under discussion, and other forms of equality, more, in fact, than we possess in New Zealand, are now ■ theirs. Thus the law of August, 1922, secured equal salaries for men and women teachers in the public schools. The rights of divorcc again are equal or very nearly equal. There are a growing number of women in the professions, offices and banks, as well ag in the civil service, and the Women's League at Athens, is steadily working to help in their training.... Few of the politicians seem really opposed to the franchise, the difficulties in the way being largely party ones. The political programme of the Republican Party, for instance, published last year, includes in its second article, \ " Equal rights for all citizens independently of sex, • religion, etc." What -we now sorely lack is that peace of mind , which is necessary for any reforms that are not the result of force,'' says one of the leading women in Athens, when dealing with the subject.
