Telegraph says ' that old , Father Tiber threatens Rome with another historic inundation. The depth of water is already nearly 40ft., and in many places this river is almost level with the embankment walls. Along the greater part ■of its •;, course j through the city ■ the : Tiber is level with the streets. ;> At Pontemilvio, .whers the bridge ( itself is flooded.. water is ■ pouring over, instead of under, . the arches. r • The floods threaten , the v . greater part of Campagna, where large areas and numerous establishments are • ten to twenty ; 'set under water., New lakes have appeared between the' outskirts of Rome and Ostia.
