Permanent ,- Artillery i are ' undergoing a 10-day refresher course! at Narrow Neck, ,24 officers and 26 other ranks being in ■ camp. Lieut.-Col. J. E. Dnigan, chief staff officer, is Camp Commandant, assisted by .the four regimental district command, ers and V Major J. A, Wallingford, district machine gun and musketry expert, with Lieut. A. !K. ■ Lambly as adjutant. 't The work has -' been" entirely practical; ; soma considerable time being » devoted i to constructing machine-gun emplacements, and various forms of entrenchments, both hasty and semi-permanent. ? Wire entanglements were also constructed. j r Firing with \ the Hotchkiss, i Yickers and ; ■ Lewis ;• guns .?. was carried out on specially if constructed . targets. : ? On ; the'; completion of each ■) day's programme, errors, were checked and the general efficiency of 'e the : work discussed. The enthusiasm off staff promises increased efficiency';? for f the territorial and senior cadet companies in the next half of the military ye*v The camp will conclude on • Wednesday next. : Some enterprising members ,of the 4th Battery, 'f N. Z. A. \ (formerly I College \ Rifles) haye started a mess-room in Tyrone Buildings, Customs if... Street | East, where members can obtain luncheon. It is proposed to install j-.af'j billiard table and '% use j the rooms as ; la;i general meeting place and social club, y ,'-' -t ~- ' .: .'*>:'. . * '■j.'." A camp of V-.; instruction for territorial officers, n.c.o.'s ; and senior cadets will :be held i from December the 1 16th .to ; 22nd at Narrow Neck. The training : \ will embrace musketry, % physical training , and infantry training. - ■ .
