The first semi-final drew the crews or Felton and Nicklins to the starter s bne. Felton's four, rowing, a sharp, lively stroke, quickly forged ahead, and wop. in a most hollow fashion by two lengths. The second semi-final, drew the crew, of Dawes and Norden. There httle> between the crews for the first. Quarter. Th.en Norden took the lead, and in a fine finish won a gruelling race by half, a length. As the crews of Felton and Norden set off to decide possession of the coveted trophies, considerable doubt existed as to the probable winners. Every part ofthe course was fought, and the last determined spurt from ""the wharf to the line provided the most fitting final. Each man. had every ounce of weight on. but the heavier crew of Felton's carried just too much, and beat Norden's four, amid much excitement, by a canvas length. The winning crew was: O. Felton (4). WAITEMATA CLUB. MR. C, J. ELLEBBECK'S TROPHIES, The Waitemata Boating Club held a .set of trial fours for trophies presented by Mr. C. J. Ellerbeck, vice-president. ■ Four crews competed, and the nrst neat drew the following crews: Herd, A. Bryant, C. Lead D. Hyde; C. Thompson, Shorland. O'Hanlaia, D. Corson. Herd's crew quickly took the lead, but Thompson's four, rowing with better combination, drew ahead and won by a good length In the second heat the crews ware: A. M. Mackay. F. Goodall, F. Wright. Hunt; V Smith. F. Gollingson.. W. T. Wilson, A. Smith. The crews raced on even terms till just past the half distance, where Smith forged ahead and won by half a length. The final drew the crews of Thompson and V. Smith's to face the starter. A willing race ended in Thompson's favour by ha 4 a length. The winning crew was: C. Thompson ft). G. Shorland (3).
