The Hon. J. Gv Coates, Minister for ~ Public Works and Railways, returned to / '-, Thames yesterday afternoon after a ■ three days' tour of the Coromandel • Peninsula, .. 0n,.,, Saturday he set out from '■■ Coroinandet * ,at& a.m., and proceeded to Tairua, after- 7' wards going on .to Hikuai. The Minister returned to Tairua at 10 p.m. on Satur•lay. Yesterday morning he left at-. 7 - i o'plock for Thames. The first ; : portion of the journey was performed on horseback, the concluding portion being . made }":'" motor. Mr. Coates; travelled by special . train last?evening from Thames' to hrankton, where he joined the -Main, Trunk ex- j press for Wellington. , ' '*- i Sir Francis y.
