| Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.8 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Dec. 6. Prince Arthur of Connaught, retiring Governor-General of South Africa, was entertained by the Government at a banquet at Pretoria. The Prime Minister, General Smuts, who presided, highly praised the Prince, who, he said, had done everything possible to advance the interests of South Africa. The Prince of Connaught, responding, said he left South Africa with the happiest recollections of kindness and hospitality everywhere. He congratulated South Africa on its great progress, political and fiscal, and in the direction of racial unity since he first came as a subaltern in the Hussars. The Prince afterwards departed for Durban, where he will embark for England, via Suez-
