DAVIS CUP TACTICS.
AN AUSTRALIAN OPINION.
CHANGE SAVED AMERICANS.
Australian and NX Cable Association. (Reed. 8.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 7. Mr. J. O. Anderson, commenting on the controversy respecting Tilden's play in the Davis Cup doubles says that during the first three sets Tilden played chiefly from the base line and the Australians won the second and third. Even when serving Tilden invariably refrained from going forward to volley, which was a sufficient departure from recognised practice to cause comment. The Australian players were unaware of the interview between Tiider. and the American selectors .until after the contest. The change of tactics made ' the American pair infinitely more formidable. In fact, but for the alteration (he Australians would have been victorious.
