WOOL PRICES FIRM.
SECOND WELLINGTON SALE.
RESERVES UNDULY HIGH.
CORRIEDALE REACHES 27D. [iJX TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The second wool sale in Wellington was opened this evening, when two catalogues wera sold. A line of super Romneys was passed in at 28£ d. Other lots were passed at 16jfd, 18$ d, 22£ d, and 233 d, there being a fair number of passings in this range, but the limit was reached when a lot was passed at 28>jd. Most of the remainder was passed without being put up. There were some very fine superMerinos from the well-known clip of Mr. Charles Coulter, the well-known stud Merino breeder, of Marlborough, and other good wools came from Blenheim, Wairarapa, and Feilding. There was a full bench of buyers, representing Bradford, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and the local mills. From the outset bidding was lively, competition being keen and spirited throughout the evening, nearly every section of buyers operating. Prices ruled slightly in buyers' favour, taking quality into consideration. Present indications do not show a marked advance. . After the first catalogue, the passings were few, the first being due to what were regarded as unduly high reserves. In the second catalogue 27d was the best price recorded, this being for Corriedale. Crossbreds are fully firm at slightly better than the November prices. The sale will continue to-morrow. The total catalogue comprises 27,000 bales.
