POINTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
The girl who intends to spend'a holiday motoring and wants her complexion to be as soft and smooth at the end of the day as it was when she started out should substitute a little greasy cream, or pure olive or almond oil, for the vanishing cream she usually applies before powdering her face. The oil or cream should be rubbed over tie skin and allowed to soak thoroughly into the pores. The face should then be wiped with cotton wool or a soft handkerchief before the: powder puff is applied. The oil, if it is wall rubbed in, will prevent the skin froto becoming rough or red, no matter how sharp the wind may be. To avoid blistered palms after tennis or rowing, rub th© palms of the hands very thoroughly with common salt and then sponge them either with toilet or ordinary vinegar, allowing the vinegar to dry into the skin. If aii the end of the day, in spite of this precaution, the hands feel sore, the palms should be rubbed with a little clarifiod mutton fat. Before starting on a walking tour soak the feot in warm water to which a good handful of ordinary salt has been added. Dry thoroughly, then rub the soles and heels (over with methylated spirit and dust with "powdered Mler's earth or boracic powder. This will prevent the feet from becoming hot and uncomfortable throughout the whole day. Should there be a tendency to blistered heels, moisten a cake of soap and rub it over the inside of the heel of the stocking and the inside of the heel of the shoe or boot. The first long ride or climbing excursion generally makes the : holiday-maker feel very stiff and strained. If a little oil is well rubbed into the knees and ankle joints before starting the sensation of fatigue at the end of the day will be much reduced. If possible after a day's hard exercise, a hot bf.th should be taken at night to relieve the strain on the muscles. A heaped-up handful of salt added to the bath vaisi will, SKN& va&ftklwg.
