ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
TITLED LADY'S RASH ACT. At Canterbury (England). Lady Elizabeth Grace Dimsdale, whose husband, Sir John Dimsdale, Bart., son of a former Lord Mayor of London, shot himself .in a churchyard at Seasalter,. near Whitstable, in April, was charged with attempting to commit suicide by throwing herself into the sea at Tankerton, Whitstable. It was stated that Lady Dimsdale gave herself up. to a constable in the street, and when charged at Whitstable police station said : "If only I had my husband's pistol for five minutes I could do the job properly." s ■ She told the police that she climbed out of the bedroom window, at a house in Athol Road, where she had been given shelter. v , — Lady Dimsdale told the Bench that her only relative was a brother in East Africa. She had neither friends iKy money. For two months she worked in a Swiss hotel, but had to leave as she was not well enough dressed and she could not afford to buy clothes. She kept the books and entertained the ' guests. She had to take lessons in French and received them instead of salary. She was remanded in custody.
