TO-DAY'S FORECAST.
GOVERNMENT REPORT.
The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: Present indications are for north-west to south-west winds, strong to gale; weather warm and sultry in East Coast districts, clouding over with rain following later; heavy rain in West Coast and Southern districts. The barometer is falling, but a rise in the South may be expected.
HERALD SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening :Fair to cloudy, and very warm weather, will continue over tho greater part of the week-end, but with increasing cloudiness, for change to follow after about 36 hours, when heavy rain is liEely under tho influence of a disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic character now advancing from the west, Freshening northerly to north-easterly winds prevailing, and* attaining gale force shortly.
