WAIHI.
PAST MONTH'S RETURN.
The Waihi Goldmining Company, during the period ended November 24, crushed 16,338 tons of ore, for a return of 5402 fine ounces of gold, and 43,930 fine ounces of silver. In the corresponding period of last year, 15,650 tons yielded 46470z. of gold, and 40,0G30z. of silver. The following information has been cabled to the London office of the company No. 5 level: north Driving north-east, the next 17ft. assays 67s 6d per ton. The width of the lode is about sft. No. 9 level—Edward lode: Driving south, the next 19ft. assays 35s per ton. The width of the lode is about sft. No. 10 level Edward lode: Driving south, the next lift, assays 5s 3d per ton. No. 14 level: In the crosscut to the north the next 10ft. is country rock. Martha lodeNorth section: Driving west of No, 4 shaft crosscut, the next, lift, assays 323 9d per ton. Martha lode—north section: Driving east of No. 4 shaft crosscut, the next 28ft. assays 36s 3d per ton. The width of* lode varies from 6ft. to 10ft. MINE MANAGER'S REPORT. Rising Sun.— 4 block in No. 3 level, No. 1 reef, is 15in. wide. No. 3 block in No. 3 level, No. 1 reef, is 18in. .wide. At present the lode is intermixed with country, but becomes more denned a few feet furtner ahead. No. 1 block in No. 2 reef, at the intermediate level, is 20in. wide, and* in consequence of values dropping stoping has been stopped for the present. At No. 1 block south of shaft. No. 3 reef, stoping is being carried on over an average width of 20in. At the battery clean-up the material treated has yielded:. Plater, and bftrdan amalgamation. £108 19s; cyanide approximately £80. A start was made with a trial crushing on October 29, 32 tons having been treated. Four-in-Hand, — Tainui reef below the surface level still shows colours of gold when broken down, and toward the end of the week a few pieces of stone were selected, showing gold very freely. The intermediate level is in 60ft. The ground has been much harder. The Tainui crosscut is in 13Gft. The country is a little firmer, with greenish black stains in the leads. This is still being extended.
