GREAT DREDGING SCHEME.

# A sum £38,000 is to be spent in dredg-, ing'at Southampton to accommodate the United States liner Leviathan. An agreement has been confirmed by the Southampton Harbour Board by which the cost will be borne equally by the Southern Railway Company and the board. The United States Shipping Board is to contribute the sum of £7,600, payable in dues on the Leviathan, with a "minimum of. £1500 per annum for five years. Subject to the necessary permission of the Board of Trade, there are likely to be important developments on the Marchwood side of the River Test, opposite the site of Southampton's proposed new docks. A scheme bus been formulated to reclaim, 200 acres of land which are; to be the site of industrial enterprises. It is hoped the scheme will find work -for 1000 men for three years.
