COLOURED SHOES.
When, in Paris, smart women began to wear coloured shoes, we in England were frankly dubious, says an English fashion writer. The fashion was* a daring one, and there is always, too much danger of the wrong sort of people copying daring fashions in . the wrong sort. of way for smart women to adopt them without due consideration and thought. But in spite of our fears, coloured shoes have come to stay, however ephemeral their stay may be! , . In the park on Sunday a well-dressed woman wearing a black marocain "threepiece," with both gown and short coat beautifully embroidered in red, wore red shoes to match the embroideries, -and while looking both neat and smart did not look in the least too striking. The restraint of the -black gown obviated all danger of this. Another woman wore jade green shoes, also with a black gown embroidered in jade. There is no doubt, however, that coloured shoes will have I'their greatest vogue indoors and for evenj ing wear, and chiefly in alliance with black. A black evening gown is lifted out of the ordinary if it is worn with : green shoes, green necklace and earrings and a green fan. Always wear "flesh' stockings with coloured shoes.
