General John Thompson, head of the Auto Ordnance Corporation of New York, and formerly of the United States Army, has arrived to submit a new automatic rifle to the British Army. -. - :'■ The new weapon is 31b. lighter than the present regulation small arm, and ha* a range of loOOvds. The magazine £ holds 20 cartridges. No pulling of the bolt is required- to eject the empty cartridge shell. The whole operation is automatic as in 'the 1 , Lewis gun. .'■ y „
