Xiaburnum of the shoal waters of the Submarine Volcano,, 30 miles north-west of Nukualofa, is pubhshed for general information;—" After. leaving Vayau on August 0, the ship visited the Submarine Volcano about 30 miles to the north-vest of -Nukualofa and made a survey of the shoal waters in the vicinity. -The actual position was found to be about one mile further south than that shown on the Admiralty Charts. THE AEAWA'S PASSENGERS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Arawa, which arrived at Wellington from, London and Southampton on Tuesday, berthed at 4. p.m. that day. The passengers for Auckland left Wellington by special train at 2 p.m. yesterday, and will reach here at about 8 a.m. to-day. The Arawa. after discharging part of her cargo at Wellington, will come to Auckland about November 27 to complete discharge. - After loading in New Zealand, the Arawa will be despatched from Wellington on December 13 for Soutnampton and London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe.

ONE CLASS ORIENT LINERS. The arrival recently of the Orient Company's Ormonde in Australian waters m the Commonwealth mail service, marks another step in the progress and development of the mail and passenger service between - Australia and Europe. '. • "'-'. - Since the Ormonde was last in Australianwaters, she has been converted to ' burn oil instead of coal. and this adds, to her attractiveness as a passenger carrier. It will also give her increased speed, and tuts will reduce by two days the period of transit of mails between Toulon and Fremnntle. . With the Ormonde the- Orient, Company inaugurates a r.pw policy rogsirdini* saloon passengers. Hitherto these have been in hrst and second classes, each having its own dining rooms, decks, etc., but to keep abreast of other important passenger services the Orient Company has so arranged the accommodation, on the Ormonde that the discrimination in saloon classes is,with- j drawn, and all saloon passengers will be ! afforded the one first-class. .Additional [ dining saloon, lounge, and smoking room accommodation has been provided, and the promenade . deck space practically doubled. Corresponding increases have.been made in | bathroom and lavatory accommodation. So that passengers hitherto travelling second saloon may be better provided lor at rates approximating the fares previously paid, the accommodation has been arranged to ';■; offer a wide choice of cabins and bertha ■' at varied rates. II will cost not very much additional to the old ; . second saloon fare to obtain a first-class passage. The Union Company'*, intercolonial steamer Manuka will be dispatched from the Central Wharf -at 11 a.m. to-morrow with passengers, mails, and cargo for Sydney.

KAITANGiATA RETURNS' TO-MORROW. The Union Company advises that the Kait&ngata will return to Auckland, from Whangarei to-morrow to load, and will be despatched from this port on Saturday for Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton. •THE TAIROA. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Tairoa sailed from Liverpool on November 11 for Australia. After discharge the vessel will come to New Zealand about the middle of January to load for England. KAIWARRA DUE TO-MORROW. The Kaiwarra has reported by wireless that she will arrive at Auckland from Newcastle at 6 a.m. to-morrow. She will berth at the King's Wharf to discharge her cargo of coal.
