, The monthly meeting of the Council of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society's Plant Branch was held Mr. F. C. Rollett presiding. ' ' ~ v Seeds and plants >= of *;\ the English Whortleberry were received from Miss F. L. fencer, Taristock, Devonshire, through her brother, Mr. L. G. ;P. Spencer. The plants, which were gathered ;on Dartmoor, arrived in excellent condition, some being quite green. They .were packed in a hermetically scaled tin-box. A parcel •f, the seed was sent to Mr. H. A. Goodie, Conservator: of Foresta.^Whakirewarewa, who has consented to propagate them for distribution in the Rotoru« district arid elsewhere. : -.;.-■' ; : Seeds of an exceptionally fine variety of orange, from Pitcairn Island, were received from Mrs. E. Jones, Timaru, and are to be tested.

Since the Plant. Branch announced its intention of introducing into New Zealand certain varieties of .-! baciV'as, which are likely to be of commercial use, a parcel of seed of the Dendrocalamus Brindisii (Burma bamboo), has been received from Mr. H. A. Goudie, and are available for distribution among members. ,; ,'■.,.'.":■ The report on the' work already accomplished by the Plant Branch of the Auckland Society, prepared by Messrs. J. W.
