The taxi in which they were travelling left the road and fell over a steep face, somersaulting four times before bringing up against a trco many feet below. Mr. Charles Parnel!, conductor of th*» orchestra, sustained a painful wound on i the cheek, and .-ilso injuries to his neck and one thigh. -Miss Kitty Gresham had a shoulder blade broken. The other ta«inbers of the party escaped with cuts and minor abrasions. The party had lets Featherston in ilie evening for Wellington, and the accident was caused through the driver being unaware that roadwidening work was in progress at the spot Tho injured people had a painful wait of four hours before assistance arrived from Featherston in the shape' of a car brought by a man who walked back from the scene of the accident. Th* party reached Wellington on Sunday morning. The injured were taken to the hospital, snd are progressing favourably^,
