TRADE WITH FRANCE.

RECENT MISSION'S WORK. GOOD RESULTS EXPECTED. AGENCIES IN DOMINION. [by TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The French Commercial Mission, which visited New Zealand has now completed its world tour and reached France in the beginning of August last. The sec retavy of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Mr. J. W. Collins, has received a letter from a member of the mission in which he says that it is hoped that come good will result from the mission. " Wo have spoken of New Zealand's products to the peoplo of ludo-China," says the writer. " but although the Chambers of Commerce are looking for new markets there the country has not yet reached the state when they are readily found. They do not import any quantity of meat, chilled, preserved or frozen, because the English people are a comparatively small number and the natives eat mostly rice, but "they have no butter and cheese. The people were very much interested when I spoke of the possibility of getting these commodities from New Zealand." the writer intimated that no official report of the cruise will be published, but that Admiral Guyon intends to write a book about it, arid members of the mission will write articles in the various financial reviews, copies of which will be sent to tho New Zealand Government. In regard to trade with France and the British Dominions the mission is reporting direct to the French , Government), and it is hoped that satisfactory arrangements will be made so that an interchange of trade will result. France _ has special line? of commerce, such as silks, brocades, wines, optical goods, and other commodities, in which she excels and the fact that a large number of manufacturing firms in France have sought agents here indicates the likelihood of an extensive trade being developed.
