TAURANGA COUNTY.
OHAUITI ROAD BRIDGE. [BT TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.! TAURANGA, Friday. A meeting of the Tauranga County Council was held to-day. The Public Works Department forwarded authority for the expenditure of £500 for the erection of the Kerikeri Stream bridge on the Ghanifi T?n ,id. The county engineer reported that he is calling tenders for the construction oi this bridge which will be dealt' with next week. The secretary of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association wrote enlisting the sympathy of the council in arranging for a district court at the next Auckland Winter Exhibition. Several members referred to the interesting court which Tauranga had in previous years staged at this exhibition, and spoke in support of the proposal. The council decided to send copies of the circular to various agricultural and pastoral associations and branches of the farmers' union throughout the district. It was decided to strike a rate of tenpence in the £1 on the ratable value Over the Otumoetai special rating area for interest and sinking fund on a loan of £12,700 for the erection of the bridge and embankment over the Waikareao estuary. A motion was passed confirming the ,'vocial order declaring the PaengaroaMaketu Road to the overhead railway crossing "at Pukehina to be a main road. The council appointed a committee to prepare a report on the question of the purchase of additional plant. The engineer reported the resumption of work on various metalling contracts which had been suspended through wet weather some time ago.
