TAXATION OF SHIPPING.
ANOMALIES WITHIN EMPIRE.
A CHOICE OF REMEDIES.
A. and N.Z.
LONDON, Nov. 7
A report has been drawn up by the Imperial Shipping Committee on tho methods of assessment of shipping for income tax within the Empire. The committee suggests a series of alternative remedies, but recommends none, because the matter is outside the commit, tee's sphere of inquiry so far as tho necessity for raising revenue is concerned. Tho committee, nevertheless, feels that anomalies and complexities exist within the Empire, and has sufficient evidence to establish, a prima-facie ground of complaint. It suggests that the report be first brought to the attention of the fiscal authorities concerned.
