, FRUIT AND PRODUCE. There was a. fair supply of fruit at the Auckland City Markets yesterday, apples being still in fairly good supply. Old potatoes were practically finished, but large, supplies of new are becoming available. In dairy produce, eggs were in over supply and bard to quit. Farmers' butter was in medium supply. FRUIT. ' * The ruling prices for fruit were about the same as at last week's sale. Strawberries made from Is to Is Gd. In apples. Dougherty's realised from 7s to 9s: Stunners. 12a 6s to 14a; Delicious had sale at from 8s to 12s; while Canadian fruit made from 16s 6d to 17s 6d. Lemons sold at from 6s to 14s. P. Barry pears realised from 9s to 12a. Repacked oranges brought 255. Hothouse tomatoes made from la to 2s per lb. Gooseberries brought 10a to 14s. Island tomatoes found sale at 19s to 20s. PRODUCE. New potatoes brought from 2d to 2Jd. Melbourne onions had sale at 9s. American bringing 24s a crate. Kumaras made 2d to 21 per lb. Cabbages realised from 15s to 22s a sack. Cauliflowers from 6s to 13s a sack. Green peas, of which there waa a, heavy supply, brought from 4d to 5J per lb French beans. Is 6d to Is lOd per lb.: broad beans. 2Jd. Hothouse cucumbers made from 9s to 13s per doz. Asparagus brought from 7d to Is a bundle. Lettuces were sold tt from Is to 3s a doz. Carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips sold at from Is 3d to 2s 9d a doz. Rhubarb brought Is 9a to 4s 6d per doz. Pumpkins realised 2s 6d to 5s each. Celery had sale at from 2s to 2s 9d & bundle. AUCKLAND HIDES SALE. PRICES WELL MAINTAINED. At the Auckland hide sale yesterday prices were well maintained. There was an exceptionally good market for dried sheepskins. Calfskins were also in good demand. Heavy ox hides realised from 7d to 7id per lb. medium 6Jd to 6id, light sid. to 6d. i Heavy cow hides made 5d to aid, light 4d |to 4ld. Kip yearlings realised sid to 6}d. I Cut bides, cow and ox, found sale at from I 5Jd to 4id per lb. Best grade calfskins I made 13d to 13Jd, cut and meat* skins Bid Ito 9Jd. Faulty and slippy skins sold at I from 7Jd to Bid. Large horre hides realised 12s 6d each, medium 8s 6d. Three-quarter to full-wool, sound-pelted, dry sheepskins made lid per lb. for fine crossbreds. best grades in medium crossbreds lOd to 10jd. Half-wool, best skins, made 8d to B|d, seconds and faulty 6*d to 7d. Pelts and quarter-wools, best, realised from 4jd to 6d, damaged three-quarter to full from 6d to 6Jd. Damaged quarter to halfwools made 2*d to 3d. Salted sheepskins, best grade, heavy full-wool, brought 8s 6d to 9b each. Three-quarter to full-wool, sound, realised 7s to 7s 6d, while best grades half to three-quarter-wool had sale at from 5« to 5s 9d each. Sound but hers' pelts sold at from Is lOd to is each. Best spring 'lambs brought Is 6d to 2s. All other skins, fatty and of second grade, were sold at lower rates. PROPERTY SALES. The farmers' Co operative Auctioneering Co., Lt..i., Hamilton, report as follows on fat stock sales held in the Waikato during the past week: The beef market has suffered a sharp decline, sharper perhaps than is justified by the amount of prime quality available. The mutton market is fairly steady at late quotations. Show lots are now coming to hand freely. There has been a somewhat unexpected check to the buoyancy of the store cattle market and this has resulted in greatly increased yardings which. goner-..1y speaking, have met with dull competition. There is a fair inquiry for store sheep, but quotations have up to the present proved a bar to extensive business. For dairy cattle a good demand still exists, animals at profit being strongly competed for in all centres. As anticipated, the market for pigs has receded and farmers have been swamping the yards in an endeavour to clear at the high rates. There is still, however, good competition for baconers, but a further decline must bo looked lor shortly. There is a very strong inquiry for hea'-y horses and good value* prevail. There was a large attendance of buyers and-good entries of sheep, cattle and pies at the Taumarunui sale to-day. Sheep sold well at slightly lower rates.
