TO-DAY'S FORECAST,
GOVERNMENT REPORT.
The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Present indications are for variable winds, with moderate'to strong easterlies prevailing northward of West port, and Kaikoura, and northerlies elsewhere. Weather fair generally, but ciondy and misty at times, particularly iii the northern and the ! southernmost districts, and along tho East I Coast. The barometer has a falling tendency. HERALD SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening : — Fine weather conditions are likely to continue generally, but cloudy and unsettled at times, especially in northern districts and coastal areas.
