The Auckland Harbour Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. H. 11. Mackenzie, presiding. There "were also present:—Messrs. T. B. Clay, W. F. McCallum, E. W. Inder, T. Bloodworth, E. J. Carr, A. M. Laing and J. B. Teasdale. >

Tlie letter requested that, as the Road Board was not carrying out the Harbour Board's re3uirementd, the question of allowing the ischarge at the point previously agreed upon, should be reconsidered. The matter was referred to the Manuka u Harbour Committee for report. The committee is to consider the whole queslion of sewerage in the harbour. A t scheme of drainage from the Takapuna Orphanage was submitted to the board for approval. The board approved the scheme, on condition that it be regarded as a temporary measure, and that it be connected to a scheme of drainage for the borough as soon as possible and within the next three years. The discharge is to be entirely unobjectionable, and is to take place only on the ebb tide. Considerable shoaling on' the western side of the western tide deflector through silt from 'ho Freeman's Bay sower, was reported by the harbourmaster. The report was referred to the board in committee.

The secretary of the Marine Department wrote stating that certain of the by-laws relating to the hire of tugs and cranes recently adopted by the board were unreasonable, and should be amended. When that was done, the Minister would acknowledge the by-laws Amendments submitted by the board's solicitors were approved by the board, ace' the amended by-laws are to be sent to the Minister. The by-laws will become operative on the Minister's acknowledgment. A draft of, other by-laws dealing with the ferry wharfage charges and the exemption, from port charges on vessels out of commission was submitted by the board's solicitors. The draft was approved. A reply was received from the General Manager of Railways to the board's offer to supply Rangitoto quarry stone for use in connection with the Auckland-West-field railway deviation. The letter stated that the department was not yet in a position to commit itself to any definite arrangements, but that, as soon as circumstances permitted, the matter would be gone into.
