THE EMPIRE EXHIBITION.
SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVES. j APPOINTMENT NOT FAVOURED. A suggestion that a special representative of the Dominion's secondary industries should be sent. to the British Empire Exhibition at the joint expense of the Government and of the Industrial Associations, was not favoured by members of the Auckland Industrial Association when the matter came up for discussion yesterday. The acting-chairman, Mr. F. M. Hills, stated that neither Wellington nor Dunedin was in favour of the appointment, and as the cost would be about £1500, Auckland and Christchurch would have to find £750 between them. A number of manufacturers would be leaving from each centre, and it would be far better to appoint some- of them honorary representatives of the secondary industries. This would give the visitors a certain standing, and would achieve the same result without expense to the associations. A motion that the Dominion Advisory Council be asked to make these honorary appointments was- carried unanimously.
