The Department of Agriculture has received the following advice from Calcutta, concerning the market for linseed: "Linseed, 3923 ptsr ton of 22401b. November shipments, costs and freight to Sydney. Th© annual import of the English, Scottish and Australian Bank, Ltd/, for the year ended J una 30 shows profits for the year of £470,847 (ao against £348,476 last year). The directors propoio to transfer 170,000 to tho Reserve fund, making it £ 1,620,000 £35,000 to the officers' guarantee and provident fund: £59.498 to the purchase and cancellation of deferred inscribed stock: £40,600 to pay a bonus of 10 per c*ent. to the staff; and to pay & dividend for the year of 12J per cent., free of English income tar (aa against 10 per cent .last year), leaving a balance of £112,599 to b'j carried forward.

Tho tone of the vegetable market at the Wellington Fruit and Produce Exchange last- week was decidedly strong, the reason assigned for the high prices ruling being shortage of supp'ies. Parsnips brought up to 30s a sack nfew potatoes fetched from 2}d to 3d per lb; lettuce, 9s Gd a case; spring cabbage. 15s Gd a sack; carrots, 19a ( >d ft sack; cauliflowers, 19s a sack; spinach, 15s a sack; green peas, from 3s to 3s 2d per peck; and goosoborriea, Gd pter ib.
