Litigation regarding the • trotting horse Lady Loganberry occupied the attention of Mr. Justice Salmond .. at i the Supremo Court yesterday. The owner of the horse, Joseph George Holland, claimed £50 "as- damages frota John Patrick Daly in., connection jwith the lease of the animal. " ''■";;';". f If was explained by Mr. 0. A. L. Tread v.-ell, who appeared for the plaintiff, that both .: parties 8; were racehorseowners. Defendant agreed to lease the animal for two years from June 6, 1921. At the end of .that period, in. spite of a fetter; sent to Daly by plaintiff,, the horse was not returned, nor , was it returned until September 18, 1923. * Plain- ' tiff had been put to a good deal of inconvenience, as there were several race-meet-ings at which the horse could have been a competitor. Counsel explained that at the time of . the lease there *, had v ; been some arrangement between the parties as to a share in the winnings of) the horse, but mystery had enshrouded that part of the contract. In the meantime, however, . it was only intended to apply for damages for detention. '[ The action was not defended,, and after hearing the evidence Hie Honor gave: judgment for the amount claimed.
