[BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU. Saturday. Quite a number of district dairymen were purchasers of pedigree bulls at recent breeders' sales, and this, will naturally have an effect in improving the dairy herds here. Most of the purchases had good butter fat backing. Messrs. W. Lees, jun., G. Maunder, Thos. Wilson, and W. Stewart have been elected to fill ■ the . four vacancies on the Kihikihi Town Board., The Te Awamutu School Committee has arranged to interview the two highestgraded applicants for the position of neadmaster, being rendered vacant by the transfer of Mr. S. Walker to the Newton Central School. Both applicants are graded equal, and their other qualifications are considered so even in merit that the Board of Education has asked the committee to make a recommendation of preference. Mr. Lewis is at present headmaster at Bulls, and Mr. Roberts is assistant-master at Epsom:. The fund for the rebuilding of the Presbyterian Church at Kihikihi now stands at £413. The old church building was destroyed by fire a month ago. The Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce has appointed a sub-committee to prepare a booklet setting forth tho attractions and advantages of the district to tourists and prospective settlers. It is intended to send a parcel of the booklets to the British Empire Exhibition.
