- Additional"'details have ' been received regarding the; new motor lineir which is under v construction at the yard of the Fail-field Shipbuilding Company for the Union Steam Ship Company 'of > New Zealand. ■As already stated , the vessel, which will be of 20,000' 'tons 'displacement, will be the largest motor ship in the 'world and', " the largest : vessel crossing tjie Pacific' Ocean. ] "Captain Crawford, of ; the Makura, will, leave his vessel at Auckland on Monday, and.proceed to England to. supervise;;the fitting up of the new ship. . .'.'.'. ,- y ■ v The new vessel is to be ij,called,;the Aorangi, which is " the 'Maorji. name i of Mount Cook, ; and -the same rianle as a wellknown Trans-Pacific liner 'of |,t'ho' Union Company in pre-warr days. The vessel will, be 600 ft. m. length with ;72ft.. beam, and will.be driven byifour-ifcrews, the motive power, being provided by.:internal combustion engines of ;. the Sulzer type: The space for passenger accommodation .wiiil be .18 per cent, greater than; would , be j available ;■' if "; she were driven; by steam turbinas with; oil fuel.
