DAIRYING COMPANIES.
MEETING AT , MORRINSVILLE.
A conference, attended ■by representatives from most of the smaller dairy companies operating 'in the : Auckland Pro- . vince, -was held in. Morrinsville on Friday. - Mr. Leonard was . elected chair- * man. .. • . ■ ■".- ... •:■•■<.■■ ' ■>:,-....■; : The Dairy Produce Control Act was the subject of a lengthy discussion, in '.which 'all present expressed opinions.,- of their respective ! companies. At the conclusion it -was unanimously Agreed that, while the objects of the promoters of the scheme were in some cases desirable, the • method of seeking those- objects by means of an Act of Parliament was not in the best interests of the dairy industry. It . -was unanimously decided that the directors of each: company represented should : urge, their suppliers to vote against the present; Act, being made operative, as it :is the duty,/ of Parliament to ; enact and enforce laws —not J the section of the community affected by the particular law. / :, • ' The matter of the ; cost of fertilisers supplied ;to dairy companies .was discussed, and ..it : was unanimously decided that the whole position and the anomalies therein be > brought before the country members of Parliament, ;; with/ a view of having the present position, {> remedied. It was decided that a'- further conference should be arranged at; '■'&"! later date.
