SOLDIER SETTLEMENT.
BASIS OF REVALUATION. [BX TELEGRAPH. — ASSOCIATION-! HA WERA. Monday. The South Taranaki Returned Soldiers', Association passed a resolutionpointing out that- the provision made/in the;forms/ provided for revaluation, is inadequate in respect of the period / allowed over which to estimate the productive yield /of ■ a farm, namely, February 28 to June 30..' and advocating that neither would be a guide to average prices ruling in t<ne dis- : trict for five years immediately preceding ! the war and an estimate of prices and production yielded over ' a period of/five years from now :- ; . ~ ■. ■,
COMPLETE MISCONCEPTION, EXPLANATION BY MINISTER. [BY XELEanArH.—-bWN COEEESPONDENT.I WELLINGTON. Monday. The attention of the Hon.; W. Nosworthy, Acting-Mihtoter for Lands, •" was l drawn v to-night ■to the resolution passed by the South Taranaki Returned Soldiers' Association.;: The ; Minister x states ".'•; that there is quite v a misconception on the point as no mention is made of the date February 28 on the form whereon the applicant ;is : asked to <■ supply estimated receipts and expenditure: for 12 months ending June 30. 19524. There is no suggestion whatever that a; farm will be valued on its productive value i for only' 12 months, and, as a matter of fact, the! form when filled in' is : merely for the in- ; formation of the district committees., The district \ committees i are not hampered as to the,;, manner in which «they will de-; terminethe valuation lof any . farms. The association . has evidently, confused the dates as February 218 is the last date for receiving applications : for revaluation. - ;
