He also read a number of letters' which had been written by the •DitsmSnion ' pupilß. In these' here was much to interest and amuse their English brothers and sisters.: ' - , , , It might be,csaid Mr. Darlow, that this day;, would serve 'as; a means of starting life-long friendships between, them. When .they were older, and decided to try their luck-in the colonies, ho extended to them a warm welcome, especially if they said they were from the Woodlands ; School, Birkenhead, .and had been present that day to hear those r messages of friendship and goodwill extended :to them. There was plenty .; of s room in ; New ;, Zealand. ]:, They :would be r living in New Zealand f among the same class as themselves. They woula 'live undor '■ the };■ British ; flag, '■■ with people who were proud <to : , be - British. > Any oi them who should go out ;in later life ,would , receive a hearty welcome. They would riot be strangers in a strange land, but would have every .-assistance- and help. Mr. '..Blair, headmaster, ; , expressed the pleasure ■it had been to them to have had ; the privilege of having a visit- from Mr. Darlow. He wanted to know if he could promise Mr. ...-Darlow that, those letters would .be answered, to which query there came the spontaneous; response, " Yes, sir." i ./. , ' ' ' v Schools songs were sung by the children; arid several country arid folk dances . followed, dancing forming an' intecraj part' of physical exercises.
