fair order. ' _ Proceedings opened with the Hunters Hurdle Race, for which Lark Hall was a strong favourite. Halcyon was. second in demand, and of the others All Melody, j Bonny Rill and The Baronet were bes~. supported. Buckeyo and The Baronet carried on the early running. Going along tho back -Bonny Rill and Buckeyo were in charge from The Baronet and Scotch Nell, Lark Hall being in the rear of a bunched field. Crossing the top Bonny Rill drew away from Buckeye and .Dignity moved up, whilo Halcyon, who was improving l.is position, struck a -litUa trouble. Bonny Rill led into the straight from Dignity, with Second Choice and' Halcyon closing up. Bonny Rill, maintained her advantage in the run ' home and won by two lengths and a-half from Second Choicc, who was a neck in trot* of Halcyon. Dignity, Buckeye and A.J Melody were the next to finish, Aho second horse paid nearly a score. -At. ei tho'raco an inquiry was held into tne running of Lark Hall. The explanations of the trainer and the owner's representative were accepted, but the judicial committee ' expressed disapproval of tire jockey's .handling, of the horse. ■ „.. Numerous scratchings reduced the tieio for the Trial Plate to; ten. Brigadier Bill was most in demand, with Kauaka, Equalise and Finlay the next best backed. The,favourite began quickest,, but with a furlong covered Bourbon had charge, closely attended by Kauaka, Equalise, Finlay, and Anticipate. Bourbon was first into the straight from Equalise and Kauaka. At the distance Equalise and Kauaka had Bourbon beaten, and were having a- keen struggle when Brigadier Bill came- fast 011 . the outside, and got up to win by half-a-length from Ka,uak;i, who was a similar distance in front of Equalise.' Piffle was fourth",' with I imay and Wheel next-- and Drawbridge last.

The Race lor the Cup. There were six starters for the Rangitikei Hunt Cup, for which Tempo was most in . demand, with Te Opai, Te To a, and Ringi best backed of the others. The field strung out quickly, and Ringi made the pace over the first two circuits, with Tempo and Te Opai as his nearest attendants, but the last-named fell at-the fence by the three furlong post. Going along the back the ' last time Tempo made some ground on Ringi, but it was only on sufferance, for Ringi was not seriously troubled over the final half mile, and ran home an easy winner by 60 yards from Tempo, who was seven lengths in front of Ah Fu. Oneroa fell at the second,to last fence. Te Toa was an indifferent fourth. F. Corlett, rider of To Opai, had his collarbone broken. | The Heaton Park Handicap attracted a I field of thirteen, and a favourite was made of Tatau Tatau. Bright Day was second choice, while Lady Kotiripo, Demos, and Cold Steel also got good supDort. The race needs little description, for Pagoda, beginning quickly, led along the back, and round the. turn several lengths clear of King Onin, with Tatau Tatau, Demos, and Lady Kotiripo well placed. At tho half distance Pagoda still had charge; but Demos 1 came along with a determined challenge and got up to 'defeat' the Auckland-owned mare by half a length. King Qyin .was two and a-half lengths: away third, with Zircon fourth "and Trespass, who finished well from a good way back,- fifth. ■ Tatau Tatau and. Cold Steel were next. Pagoda was the outsider but one, and would have r paid . nearly a century had she won. • . . . . Some Red was the noDvlar selection for the Makaraka Hack Handicap, with Mangawhero, Black Cruiser, and Kiarito the next fancies. ~ From a perfect despatch Mangawhero < was first to break the line and' carried on the early running from Ivinaka, Some Red and Ihapotoa. The only change in the leading positions at the turn was that Black Cruiser had ruir up fourth. In the run home Some Red challenged, and in a good finish Mangawhero stayed on to secure a head victory from Some Red. Black Cruiser was . three lengths away third, then came Kiarito, Ihapotoa, and Mountain Crag.-

The Hack Hurdles. , Prince Rufus, Eonmark, and Captain Sarto Were backed "in that .order for the Rack Hurd.es. Eonmark and Complimentary carried the field along for the first seven funongs, with Prince Rufus handy. Going along the back, the field. bunched up; but at the half mile post, Prince Rufus held command, and led across, the top from Captain Sarto and Eonmark.. Prince Rufus and Captain Sarto led round the bond from Eonmark; and once over the. last fence, fought out an interesting finish, which resulted in Captain Sarto gaining the verdict by three quarters of a length. Eonmark was two lengths away third, and then in order, came Savory, Sling Camp, and Festive. ' There were six runners in the Ladies' Bracelet, 'which event was confined to gentlemen riders. Many Colours was* installed a warm favourite/ while Carawock, Advent, and Ayum Kara were next in demand. Tarquin and The Baronet attended to the paceinaking in the early stages. Going along the back, they were several lengths clear of Carawock, who was heading a bunched lot. Tarquin 1 and The Baronet still had charge crossing the top, where Carawock, Ayum Kara, a*id Many. Colours . closed up, and the quintette raced to "the turn in dose company. Once fairly into the straight, Ayum Ka:ra drew out and, stalling off a challenge from Carawock, scored a popular victory 'by a length. The Baronet was six lengths further back third, with Many Colours fourth. - 1 . . • ■ - ! Elvaette, Elothenes, Good Mark, and Martulla were accorded most support in the Wairoma Hack Handicap. Stream began quickest, but when they • had crone two furlongs Submerge' challenged and led into • the straight • from Miss Mickey aind Elvaette. Miss Mickey secured the decision bv a length from Elvaette. who defeated Stream by a head.,.-■ Country Life was fourth. ■
