J ' PALMERSTON; NORTH, Wednesday. The hockey challenge shield match: played here to-day between Canterbury and - Manawatu resulted in the Southern challengers jecuring the shield by six goals to two. The game was fairly even, with Canterbury having the better of th combined passages. A large crowd was delighted at the exhibition of hockey given, and gave both teams a fine hearing, the winners receiving an eration on leaving the ground. For Canterbury. Shcrriffs. Sauire (2). 8.
