The assault 1 of Frederick" Bennett by striking him in the face with-his fist so as to cause him actual bodily harm wub the charge brought against Alfred Brophy, aged 24 (Mr. Schramm) in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. J. W. Ponton, S.M. ' ,'.'•'- Dr. A. T. Begg said he saw Bennett at the hospital. An X-ray examination showed he was suffering from a double fracture of the jaw. f : The victim of the assault said he was walking along the footpath and as he was passing a shop, accused walked out and hit him on the jaw with his fist. Witness fell to the r road and put his hanui up. He asked accused not to hit him any moro as he was too sick. Accused replied, " You would knock me into eternity if you got up."
