Wednesday. /'• The danger of sparks'! from railway - engines was mentioned ; in ; the House of Representatives by Mr. : : ; Jlcllvride (Napier), who stated: that many residents in Napier • South ; were afraid ;.of - their homes beiriii burned, because of 'sparks flying- from passing ' engines. /• The danger would increase with the approach of dry j weather, • and he wanted ;to know whether the Minister for Railways could do anything 1 to minimise the trouble. • : The ; Hon.: J. G. ; Coates replied that (he subject was at present engaging the attention of the Railway Department, and he was assured by the general manager that every effort was being made to see that all sparks.arresting appliances .were kept in thorough order.
