GRAMMAR SCHOOLS' BOARD
AGREEMENT WITH TEACHERS. COMMUNICATING WITH MINISTER. The Board of Governors of the Auckland Grammar Schools met yesterdav, the chairman; < Professor A. P. W. Thomas, presiding. . . 1 Mr. W. Ward Baker, who has been newly ' elected, and Mr. 0. Nicholson, who has been; re-elected, to the . board, were congratulated rby the chairman. Both are representatives of the parents of scholars. The board went, into committee to consider a reply received from Mr. F'. Martyn Renner, of Wellington, secretary of the Secondary ;/ Schools Assistants' Association, regarding the agreement entered into individually between the i board and its teachers,:stipulating that the latter must not ; engage in ' any • additional teaching wort outside school ; activities;' The reply had •; been - reported upon by the board's solicitors, and. after discussion it was -decided to receive Mr. Renner's • letter and state -in reply that the board was in communication with the Minister for •'Education in regard to : the questions in dispute. It. was agreed, on the suggestion of Mr. Baker, on behalf of the parents' committee of the Mount Albert school, to apply to the Government for a special grant of £300, in '..addition to subsidies on voluntary : contributions, for improving the layout of the Mount Albert school grounds.
