BOY PUPILS TO CORRESPOND. AID IN STUDYING FRENCH. [BI TELEGRAPH. —OWN CGRBESPONDENT.] • ;- - ;'; - HASTINGS. > Saturday^;-' Most of the pupils at the Hastings High School study French and with a view to making that study more interesting for them, the headmaster, Mr. W. A. J. Penlingtonj recently wrote to the headmaster of the high school at Lille, France, suggesting that French children studying English should"': correspond with some J- of the Hastings boys and girls. The reply is most ; encouraging, 'expressing not only readiness to : arrange correspondence' but also the desire to see established *■ a'; permanent feeling of goodwill between the nations. ; '-..;•'•'•'■;■■'■• ■;;.-.:••,:'.'•;. '■■'.•.•-.■■• ," I shall be only too pleased to find correspondents ; for your pupils 'among thb many boys here who study English," writes the Lille headmaster. '", It ; is a matter; of importance as we wish the connection between the future correspondents to be a lasting one. Being myself a former infantry officer in the French army, I am only too ; happy to have an opportunity of showing my gratitude to those Anzacs to whom my • country and native town (I was born in Lille) owe so much.
